Persistence in prayer
February 19, 2024
Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart. -Luke 18:1
On demand. Same-day delivery. We live in a world that worships instant gratification. Yet, God tells us to be still (Psalm 46:10), to wait on Him (Isaiah 40:31), to be persistent in pursuing Him through His Word and in prayer (Luke 18:1; Hebrews 4:16).
It’s hard to wait when we don’t see answers right away, yet the Bible is filled with stories of men and women who faced prolonged trials or challenges and never gave up. Abraham persisted in prayer for Sodom. Moses persevered in praying for Israel. Hannah continued to plead with the Lord for a son.
So today when you come before the Lord, thank Him in advance for all He is doing behind the scenes. Ask Him to help you be persistent, even when you’re ready to give up. And pray with confidence knowing that He loves to answer you.
This family in Mexico is just one example of this grace:
“Thank you for your explanation of God’s Word. Through this program, my wife, my two daughters, and I have been saved by our Lord Jesus Christ.”
We’re headed north tomorrow. We’ll see you in Quebec, Canada.
