Growing in God’s Word in India

Prayer Points
- Pray for open hearts – That more people in India will respond to the gospel with joy and hunger.
- Pray for discipleship – That believers, especially in remote regions, will grow strong in their walk with Christ.
- Pray for multiplication – That local leaders will be equipped to reach even more communities with God’s Word.
In ministry, few things are more encouraging than watching new believers grow strong in God’s Word. Whether it’s in a crowded city or a remote village, spiritual growth is a sign of God’s faithfulness. Today, we see that happening in India.
India is home to an incredibly diverse population, including the Marwari community—a group with deep cultural traditions and, in many areas, limited access to the gospel. Through the faithful efforts of believers and the help of THRU the BIBLE programs in regional languages, lives are changing. God is opening hearts and equipping local leaders to disciple communities that were once out of reach.
Here’s one story of transformation from the Marwari community:
“This Bible study has been a tremendous blessing to me and my church. I am involved in ministry among the Marwari community. When we visit these areas, the Marwaris love hearing the Word of God in their own language. I don't have much time to visit these communities regularly and, for a long time, I had been praying for such a provision. Last year, we received it. We distributed media players among the people in the Marwari villages, ensuring they have access to this Bible study. Whenever I get time to visit them, I inquire about their experience with it. I have seen real changes in their lives! They are consistently studying the Word of God and growing in the Lord. When I meet them, they share what they’ve learned.”
Praise God for how He’s moving among the Marwari people and for this leader’s faithful service and answered prayers. Through technology and translated Bible teaching, God is building a bridge into hearts once untouched by the gospel. Not only are these villagers listening, they are also applying what they learn and growing in knowledge and faith.
As we reflect on this story, let’s also ask God to stir up that same hunger for His Word in us. Are we growing consistently in our understanding of Scripture? Are we investing in others like this brother is doing? And, are we praying for those still waiting to hear? Let’s stand in prayer for India today.
