God is doing new things
August 28, 2024
Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. -Isaiah 43:19
As we travel the world this week praying for THRU the BIBLE Home Groups, we have the opportunity to stop and pray for a new language production: Malay. Here are a few things you should know about the Malay people and how our team asks us to pray.
Background information:
- Malay speakers primarily live in Malaysia, Indonesia, and the southern part of Thailand.
- Worldwide, about 220 million speak Malay and closely related dialects.
- Many are rural people, living in villages rather than towns.
- Much of the Malay Peninsula is covered by jungle and the villages, with populations from 50 to 1,000, are located along rivers and coasts or on roads.
- Most Malay follow Islam but are known to mix it with traditions from Buddhism, Hinduism, and ethnic religions.
Pray for these things:
- the safety of those distributing MP4 players with THRU the BIBLE programs on them
- entire families to be saved through God’s Word
- Malay families to invite others to join them in studying and fellowship
- God to call more Malay to become leaders of Home Groups
- Home Groups to find favor with local leadership and governments
Thank God for all the new things He is doing in southeastern Asia. Pray for these new roads God is building through the wilderness.
A listener in Nepal reminds us we are all clay in the Potter’s capable hands. More of his story tomorrow as we travel together on our knees.
