Pray for the discouraged

“If you look at the world, you’ll be distressed. If you look within, you’ll be depressed. But if you look at Christ, you’ll be at rest.” -Corrie ten Boom

“Sometimes I look at my own sinful actions, and I am so discouraged. In fact, I don’t even want to listen to Thru the Bible anymore. It seems so pointless.”

That’s what we recently heard from a listener named David. Fortunately, that’s not the end of his story. Here’s more:

“Despite this, I continue to listen and study the Bible with you daily. Today, Dr. McGee reviewed Isaiah 45:22 that says, ‘Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is no other.’ Dr. McGee shared this was the passage that Charles Spurgeon encountered at a small church one snowy Sunday in London. It led him to Christ. I pray God will lead me to ‘look unto Him.’ Thank you for faithfully carrying out this program.”

As a team, let’s pray for all our brothers and sisters who are struggling with discouragement. (Thanks for sharing, David. You are not alone.) As we study God’s Word, ask Him to keep our hearts focused on Him. Together may we find the rest and hope He alone can provide. Pray for each other that we not only carry on, but flourish as we live each day following Jesus Christ.
