A note from a prisoner in Puerto Rico
July 26, 2023
“I am a sinner. I was lost and found my way back to God in jail.”
That’s what we hear from Javier as we pray our way through the island of Puerto Rico today. He continues:
“At the moment I am confined in the federal prison. I believe in God. I believe in Jesus Christ. I grew up in church and was an altar boy, but at the age of 25 I began to distance myself from God. I put my work first, to generate income, and I neglected my relationship with God, my wife, and with my children. At one point I preferred the relations at my lover's house than at my house with my beloved wife and my two pieces of heaven that the Almighty Lord gave me in my wonderful children. I fell to the bottom of the abyss when I was imprisoned at 33 years old. Yet it is here where I met again with Jesus my Savior. Through God’s grace my wife forgave me and did not abandon me. She is supporting me while I go through this ordeal and she waits, along with my two children, for my release. In the meantime, I got on the Bible Bus and have already enjoyed the detailed studies of Genesis, Matthew, Exodus, and the first 13 chapters of Mark. It is so nice to hear how you speak in ways that are so easy to understand. I have fallen in love with God in a way I never knew before. I am now fully and completely committed to living my life for Jesus Christ. Please know you are prayed for. I ask the Lord to bless you and protect your voice so that you can reach many hearts that want to change their lives. Hearts like mine.”
We are all sinners. It’s only through God’s grace we are saved and are able to be called His son or daughter. Are you hoping He will change your heart or the heart of someone close to you? He is able. Keep talking with Him and keep pressing into His Word. And as THRU the BIBLE goes out in Spanish pray more people like Javier hear it and choose to follow Him.
“I can’t get enough of God’s Word.” That’s what we hear tomorrow as our journey through North America continues. Join us in Palm Springs, California.
