Every good gift comes from God
July 09, 2024
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures. -James 1:17
Every good gift comes from God. Mrs. R in Karnataka, India tells us that’s what she’s learning in life and on the Bible Bus with us. Here’s her story:
“A state of financial crisis caused us to migrate to Karnataka to seek livelihood through the cultivation of the lands. We belong to a non-Christian high community called Chowdary. I never heard about Jesus before, but through your messages I was taught that Jesus Christ is the true God. In the beginning I listened with skepticism. Gradually, those messages have become a part of my life. God’s Word worked in my heart and touched me. I accepted the Lord Jesus as my Savior.
“Through my urging, my husband also has come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We both are spiritually gaining blessings in our lives as we study with you. We have a son and a daughter. Both are married and having children. They are watching us, and we are encouraging them also to listen to you. They are settled in their lives and with their family responsibilities. But they are doing idol worship. Kindly pray for their salvation. We know every gift we are given is a gift from the Lord and we humbly pray He calls our family to Himself and bestows the gift of salvation upon them.”
As we thank God for His good gifts in our lives, pray this family and thousands of others in Karnataka receive His precious gift of salvation and all the wonderful gifts He has in store for us.
Heavenly Father, in a world that is crumbling around us, we are grateful that in You we find a sure foundation for this life and the next. The generosity of Your grace in our lives is a gift we do not take for granted. Keep our hearts soft and remind us that everything good comes from You. As Your Word goes out, please use it to touch the lives of Mrs. R’s family and all those in need of salvation. We thank You in advance for the gift of Your lavish grace poured out as they confess Jesus as their Lord. In His name, amen.
Tomorrow we’re asking God to stimulate hearts in Sri Lanka. Join us as we pray.
