The cost of our salvation

“I am learning about the great cost of my salvation.” That’s the beginning of a poignant note we received from a fellow Bible Bus passenger in Germany. Here’s more of what he shared:

“Your studies have been invaluable in my life, and lately I have been drawn to learn more on the issue of saving grace. When I visited Wroclaw in Poland, I saw a statue of Dietrich Bonhoeffer and discovered his writings. He preached the idea of expensive grace because it cost Jesus Christ everything. What a gift it is. I had always been grateful that God gave it to me for free, but I never really thought about what it cost Him. Thank you for your work in discipling us, helping us dig deeper into the cost that Jesus paid for each of us and showing us how we in turn can follow Him and live lives worthy of this price. May the Lord bless you, your families, and your ministry abundantly.”

As we thank God for our Savior, Jesus, who sacrificed everything for our salvation, thank Him also for His Word that guides, shapes, and transforms us into the people He has called us to be. Ask His Spirit to keep us faithful in pursuing Him and pray more people in Germany realize the cost He paid and choose to give Him their lives in return.
