Praying for others to “get it”

Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. - Ephesians 1:15-21

As we travel the world on our knees, asking God to reach His whole world with His whole Word, our prayers often resemble Paul’s in Ephesians, chapter 1. We ask the Holy Spirit to open the eyes of understanding in all those who hear His Word. We pray they receive insight and wisdom so they can:

1. know the hope found in Him,
2. understand the extent of His mighty power, and
3. gratefully receive the inheritance He’s given us by raising Jesus from the dead.

In essence, we’re praying our friends, loved ones, and millions around the world “get it”—that they see life and the world around them in the same way God does. That they share in His purpose and His plans.

That’s exactly what Catalin in Romania experienced. Together, let’s rejoice in his story:

“You have changed my life. Before I understood the Bible, I saw life differently. Now I look at things in a biblical way. I can say I am transformed by my love of God and the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. Reading the Bible has given me focus and direction. I continue to listen daily, and I share this program with my friends and relatives. Sometimes we listen together.”

What great news. Let’s continue to pray Ephesians 1:15-21, asking God to add to the number of those who join us in faithfully praising Him now and forevermore.
