How to pray for the church in Azerbaijan

October 31, 2023

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. -Ephesians 3:20

Today our World Prayer Team returns to Azerbaijan, where God is at work in the midst of the Muslim majority. As we pray for the Azeri Christians, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Praise God for His small, growing, and joyful church.
  • Thank God for the many ways believers are coming to Him through social media and technology.
  • Pray for the safety of our brothers and sisters in Christ.
  • Pray for an end to persecution and for freedom of believers to gather.
  • Ask God to grow His church in maturity and to raise up leaders to reach neighbors far and near.
  • Pray for God’s Word to be heard in the dozens of villages and towns that have never heard the gospel.

While the task is great, we know our God is greater. Pray confidently, boldly, believing that He is able to do more (exceedingly and abundantly more) than we can imagine.

Our journey through the Middle East continues tomorrow in Jordan. Let’s join together in prayer.
