A Syrian refugee clings to Psalm 23

July 10, 2017

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

-Psalm 23:1-3

Welcome, prayer warriors. Today our journey brings us to Egypt where a Syrian refugee is clinging to Psalm 23. Here’s his story:

“My name is Ayman. I am displaced from my home in Syria. I was a Muslim, but your words on Arabic TV have comforted me and make sense of what is happening. Psalm 23 has lifted my heart. In this chaos, I have made a vow to follow Jesus, the Shepherd. Please pray that I too ‘shall not want.’”

Today let’s thank God that His Word is bringing peace and comfort to those who have been driven from their homes. And let’s ask Him to restore their weary souls and give them rest.

Our journey continues tomorrow in Turkey. We’ll meet you there.
